The roof should be placed slightly off-center so that it extends over the edges of the birdhouse. This will help protect the birds from the elements, such as rain or direct sunlight. Secure the roof with screws or nails.

Finally, sand all the edges of the birdhouse to remove any rough spots or splinters. This will ensure that the birds do not get injured when entering or exiting the house. Optionally, you can paint or treat the wood to protect it from the weather, but be sure to use non-toxic materials to avoid harming the birds.
